Elixir trading, countering an opponent, changing the tide in your own favor, that’s what students do on the app Clash Royale. Clash Royale is a mobile game that people all around the world play where your every move matters. Though people think the game itself is a distraction, it can sharpen your thinking in daily life.
Clash Royale is a game where you have to be very strategic on where and what you place in the arena. The goal of the game is to take another player’s tower, or simply three crown them. The game is very famous for its community as well as for its content, it hooks players from its uniqueness as well as to being very addicting in general.
Current Clash Royale player senior Gianni Orlandi got back into the game after some time. Soon he was later in the arena “PANCAKES” with 8,500 trophies. He plays the game everyday, as Orlandi said, “I was on this morning.”. Orlandi enjoys using the deck log bait and tries to avoid leaking any elixir while he can. He hates going against mega knight hog players, as they are like “criminals and like murderers” or “terrible people.”. Orlandi named freshman Julian Bierwirth Nussbaum as one of the best players in his Clash Royale clan called “ChockyMilk.”
Bierwirth is at 12.5k trophies, past legendary arena and has reached the seasonal arena in Clash Royale. He plays the game “pretty much every day” and uses the deck mega knight pekka. Bierwirth would say “lava loon and elixir golem” is the most annoying to go against, for the deck that he uses. Julian responded by saying “me, by far” when talking about who the best is. Bierwirth had said that he was the best clasher in the clan because he finds that trophies matter in determining your skill. He takes the game very seriously with passion and would often throw his phone in anger.
A retired gamer so called, but now current clasher, senior Ryder Binnie. Often finds his passion in skateboarding, listening to or creating music. His side hobby of playing Clash Royale is truly deep to him. Binnie says that “about seven years ago, I’m not sure, maybe six years”, was when he had started playing Clash Royale at his grandma’s house. Binnie is on the arena Clash Fest with 8,000 trophies. He used to play Clash of Clans when he was younger but started playing Clash Royale as a gateway from Clash of Clans.
Binnie said that he “stopped playing the game at one point… after it kept crashing on my Ipad when I was younger”. Binnie had then later got it back on his phone, he finds that the best player in the clan that is in “Council of J”, is senior Ocean Walker, a fellow classmate of his. Some could call him 1 2 3 I no my abcs, but some could also call him the ultimate clasher. Though Binnie plays the game everyday, he looks at the bigger picture or the significance of the game.
He says that “Clash Royale is our modern day chess…it’s like a way for the younger generation to have a little bit of that strategic mind, you know?” Binnie says that pressurized decisions or even a management of funds, could be found within Clash Royale. Clash Royale is way deeper than just playing games, it’s a lifestyle as well, that’s why today, we clash.
