The state of our world is changing right in front of our eyes. Places like Taco Bell start to resort to using AI at their companies. After hearing that a business with locations locally, Taco Bell, was using AI at their company I had to know what fellow students and Taco Bell employees felt about the new AI service.
Senior Austin Kolshinski feels like the AI service shouldn’t be used because even though the AI service is known for its intelligence, Kolshinski showed her annoyance of AI saying “The AI gets my order wrong most of the time, I would much rather talk to a human.”
Kolshinski said when having her first experience with the AI at the Taco Bell drive thru, that she was just shocked and thought, “what the heck!” Kolshinski expressed her opinion on the AI service and said that she would much rather be talking to a human than a robot that does not know what it is doing. Kolshinski feels like these robots taking your order is really disrespectful towards all the customers and the rest of the employees seeing that robots could be taking a human’s job. I say this because places like Taco Bell can’t afford to pay for AI and their employees yearly salaries.
Seeing how the AI food service at a known place like Taco Bell then made me wonder what some of the employees think about the topic. An anonymous employee feels like Taco Bell is not making a bad decision with the technical robot taking people’s orders but can’t say they don’t miss just a human speaking to another human customer and taking their order. Even though you can’t order at the window from another human being, at least when you receive your order you still get a human interaction.
A lot of people have different opinions on the AI situation, because on one side, somebody wants a human to take an order because AI messes up the order but on the other side someone thinks that having an AI take someone’s order is more beneficial than a human being taking someone’s order because when a human takes the order there most likely gonna be a problem with the order.
There is a big problem with AI taking human’s jobs, AI has completely taken over at Taco Bell as the person who usually takes your order at the drive thru. You know that they had to release employees because of budget cuts, but for the real information they released some of their human employees because AI cost too much money to pay for AI and all their employees.
