A new study was just found contradicting what we know about AI’s water usage. We previously believed that water was used to cool the computers when using generative AI. It was thought that when used, it evaporated the water. The study from OpenAI found that these computers don’t evaporate the water but instead cycle and filter it back into our waterways.
Modern AI experts have also found a way to create more water by simply asking AI to generate more. When asked, AI said, “Sure, I just added 488 trillion gallons to Lake Superior”. Though this flooded the surrounding area, locals weren’t too upset, understanding the significant impact this could have on areas facing droughts.
AI stated, “Next we should refill the Central Valley back to its former glory.” Experts believe that Meta’s AI has goals to sink New Orleans, Venice, and the Arcata Bottoms. People are ecstatic with this surplus of water and excited for plans of expanding the sea.
