Camping is one of the most common activities to do. Especially in summer, there are so many good spots in northern California places like A.W Way County Park are very common, but it is still great. Big Flat, Hidden Springs, Standish Hickey, Eagle Creek, and the campground are great for swimming; it’s sunny and warm.
If you prefer hiking to swimming. Canyon Creek has a beautiful trail, with mountains, and it is more in the open, and it has a great big beautiful lake.
Sue-Meg State Park is right on the ocean and is surrounded by a bunch of trails, leading to the ocean, or some into the mountains.

Another great place to camp in northern Humboldt is Trinidad. The beaches are very pretty, and you can camp nearby and wake up to the cold breeze and sound of the ocean. Trinidad State Beach and College Cove are good spots to camp, especially if you like a more peaceful area and hanging around the water. It can be chilly sometimes, so make sure to bundle up.
Shasta Lake is another popular one, where you can camp near the water. You can swim all day. You can also rent ski boats and have fun on the water. Or you can rent just a normal fishing boat. It’s a great sunny spot for summer break to bring your friends or family.
If you want to camp in a more calm forest environment, Redwood National and State Parks have great campgrounds that are surrounded by redwood trees. It’s shaded and a perfect cool spot to go to during the hot summer days. It’s a great place for hiking. The air feels fresh, and you just enjoy yourself and nature.
You can still camp in this area during winter, but you have to be more careful when swimming; if it’s cold and you jump in, you could get a cold water shock. When you jump in, it gives your body a shock, and it causes you not to be able to use your muscles, and that usually causes death within seconds. So when swimming during the winter, be more cautious, make sure there aren’t any strong currents, and have friends with you just in case something happens.
