A burrito from Esteban’s

What’s your favorite burrito to get for lunch? When it comes to burritos, there are many different options around Arcata. The quality of the burrito depends on the tortilla, freshness of the ingredients, salsa spice, price, location and distance of the restaurant, and the all-around experience while ordering your food. It’s very important that you come back to school full and ready to learn. Here’s a list of the top three best burrito spots to try for lunch in Arcata.

  1. Esteban’s

Esteban’s has always been a student favorite when it comes to burritos. With their signature tortillas and fresh greens, it has junior Kyler Coelho saying: “Sh*t’s fire.”

When it comes to the money aspect, senior Aliviana Bacca-Lastra said, “I don’t think you’re gonna get a better burrito for the price.”

The distance from school is just a bonus when it comes to the appeal of Esteban’s. Plus, if you are thirsty, a highly recommended drink is their horchata.

“The horchata is sweet and has a great rich cinnamon taste,” senior Jafet Herrera said.

  2. La Chiquita

La Chiquita also known as “Renner Burrito” by some students is an amazing and well-priced taco truck to get a burrito for lunch.

“The tortilla is so flakey and good and they have an amazing ratio of rice, beans, cheese, and chicken,” senior Natalie Dreyer said, talking about her go-to order, the regular chicken burrito.

Sophomore Tanner Kees is a fan of their super pork burrito.

“All the flavors just in your mouth feelin good,” Kees said.

Overall, La Chiquita is perfect when you’re super hungry and want a massive burrito.

  3. Carmela’s

Carmela’s is a go-to restaurant for lunch. They have good prices and are right across the street from Wildberries, so it’s a short drive or walk from school. With their signature $5 burrito, it’s hard to pass up on it.

“It’s always a short walk, and their carne asada burrito tastes good,” freshman Gavin Anderson said.

Carmela’s also has nice booths to sit in and is a very comfortable restaurant to hang out in during lunch.

“I usually order the Macho Burrito, because it’s very macho,” junior Kaleb Retzloff said. With a large selection of burritos and other meals to choose from, Carmela’s is a good restaurant to go to when you’re craving anything.
