The sky clears, the temperature increases, and the river slows. As summertime starts to creep around the corner, many seniors are faced with the very real fear of situating themselves for college. They start to apply for jobs, hoping they can secure something that will keep them afloat throughout college. Then comes housing. Finding a place to live that is both affordable and close to campus can feel impossible for the average college student.
With money that’s tight, housing that’s cramped, and a packed schedule, many college students find themselves in an endless cycle of stress. The best thing you can do when in these situations is tough it out. For that reason, a lot of students give up. It’s important to completely see things through, and to focus on the opportunities ahead. While not always fun, it is always possible.
“It’s really cramped, and costs quite a bit of money. It’s not too hard, just don’t go out to eat a lot and don’t buy things you don’t need. If you need money, gamble,” college freshman Liam Gorona said.

College, although stressful, is a brand-new world to most people. It’s a place where you can learn and grow, make new connections and friends, and in certain cases, where you can find a party in every direction. College is never something to dread. Sure it comes with its challenges and hardships, but what experiences don’t? It’s a maze of education, accompanied with the highest high’s, and the lowest low’s.
“When you’re in a 4-year, taking decently hard classes, money is always a thing you think about. Even though it seems like a lot, which it is, college is still 10x better for me than high school was,” college sophomore Sasha Neyra said.
When moving from place to place, do you notice certain things you wouldn’t always notice? Think about it. Of course, there are parts like where you’re living, the transportation, and traffic, which are fairly obvious. The things that you don’t really begin to think about, though, would be the people and the overall vibe. You may notice a lot of different accents, or the people you meet possess completely different personalities to your own. Some people act snobby, while others seem laid back, prestigious, or bougie.
“Down here, the people are pretty laid back. There aren’t too many parties but it’s really fun. A good number of people can be snobby, but that’s only really in the city,” college freshman Keiryn Wolfe said.
