Valentine’s Day is coming up, so the real question is: who will be your Valentine? It may be someone you’ve known forever, or someone you just met. Honestly, when it comes to love, it doesn’t really matter. It can even be in a platonic way, like your best friend, or someone you just really care about. However, what matters most isn’t who you ask, it’s how you ask.
Some people go all out with big gestures, gifts, and surprises. Others keep it simple with a sweet text. Both can work, but typically, putting in more effort makes the act more meaningful. Asking in person shows confidence and makes the moment feel more memorable. Instead of just a “will you be my valentine text.”
That doesn’t mean you need to go all out. A simple question, a small note, or asking in the moment can be enough. Some people go all out with posters and goodie baskets. But it’s not about being over-the-top, it’s about being genuine. The best way to ask is the way that feels most like you.
So how do you actually ask? You can start by picking a time where it feels right, and pick how you wanna ask them. At the end of the day, the best way to ask someone to be your Valentine is the way that feels most like yourself.
Freshman Cassidy O’Dowd said, “As long as you get me nee dohs, I’ll be your valentine.”
“I would love a jellycat or 2, Jellycats are a perfect way to my heart,” freshman Alysse Gildea said.
Lots of students enjoy nee dohs and jellycats as Valentine’s gifts!
