Seniors settle on ‘Secret Garden’ theme

The senior prom theme was up in the air, and many seniors were stressing over the results.

The senior class shared on their Instagram page on April 8th that this year’s prom theme would be “Secret Garden.”  According to Senior Class president, Ally Morris, some seniors thought that the voting was rigged, but she cleared that rumor up.

“We did a class of 2024 meeting to vote on the top three prom themes,” she said.

A reason for some seniors thinking the voting was rigged, was that most seniors didn’t have access to the Google form.

“I don’t know why they didn’t ask for access [to the voting form] before the deadline, but I got a lot of concerned individuals,” Morris said.

To try and solve this problem, the senior class officers decided to re-open the Google form until Wednesday, April 10th.

“I sent out an email to every single senior, every senior has an email, ” Morris said.

Senior Audrey Dart didn’t vote the first time because the form was only shared via Google Classroom.

“I’m not in the Google Classroom,” Dart said.“There’s like 100 seniors in the Google Classroom.”

In the class officers’ eyes, seniors don’t seem to be reaching out for help or to help out with prom.

“For the people who want to be involved, please come to the meetings, come help plan, if you don’t have access to the Google Classroom, come see me,” Morris said.

Three themes were put into the Google Classroom to vote from:1) Secret Garden, 2) masquerade, and 3) Great Gatsby.

After the voting was reopened for three days, the theme was finally picked. With 53.7 percent of the votes going toward the theme, “Secret Garden” won yet again.

Morris said the class officers, Noah Macknicki, Ella Manthrorne, Andrew Trieu, and herself, need help planning prom, and if you care about it, to help out.

“We get so little help, and that is so much to be put on such a small group of people, so I really think people need to start showing up,” Morris said.
