As the green leaves turn to a reddish brown hue and the fog descends upon the Humboldt forests, everyone begins to feel the fall spirit. From fall treats and movies to chilly pumpkin patches, this small town has a cozy autumn to offer.

You can’t truly have the fall experience without taking a visit to the local pumpkin patch. We decided to go to Huddie’s Harvest pumpkin patch on opening day to get an early preview of the pumpkin selection. We were pleasantly surprised to find a vast patch peppered with all kinds of pumpkins. It was hard not to get lost searching for the perfect one. The flat prices are based on size, making this trip affordable and fun.
With pumpkins, you can take it to the next level: pumpkin carving and roasted pumpkin seeds! And speaking of roasted treats, there are so many classic harvest-time recipes for you to make at home, and we picked out the best ones.
One fall favorite is the crisp and juicy delight of caramel apples. This classic dessert mixes tart, fresh flavors with the sweetness of melty caramel goodness.
Spongy, soft, and opposite to the caramel apple is the warm pumpkin bread. This yummy goodness is a superb addition to your rainy Humboldt days.
The final dessert on our list is the buttery, spiced snickerdoodle cookie. The soft yet chewy texture and wonderful flavors of fall make these cookies a holiday staple.
What would be a yummy dessert without a cozy fall flick? One iconic fall movie is Fantastic Mr. Fox. This traditional stop motion production offers homely comfort for everyone in the family.
The next cherished family film, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, is a must-watch this holiday season. The renowned art style and originality make the Charles M. Schulz comic come to life as a deeply moving movie.
With all these fall activities, it’ll be hard to have a single boring fall Humboldt day.
Here are the full recipes!

Caramel Apples:
Step 1: Dip your apples in boiling water to remove the wax. Let them cool completely.
Step 2: Take the wooden chopsticks and push them through the core of the cooled apples.
Step 3: Now, in a pan, combine the brown sugar, corn syrup, butter, and sweetened condensed milk and stir on medium heat.
Step 4: Stir the mixture constantly so it does not burn, and bring it to a boil. About 25 to 30 minutes.
Step 5: Take the caramel off the heat and add vanilla extract.
Step 6: Dip your apples in the caramel. Make sure they are fully coated.
Step 7. Let them dry on a pan with a baking sheet. About 1 hour.

Pumpkin Bread:
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Get two loaf pans and lightly grease them.
Step 2: Mix together with a whisk, flour, salt, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger into a large mixing bowl.
Step 3: Now, in a separate bowl, whisk pumpkin puree, water, oil, eggs, and sugar until fully blended.
Step 4: Now, pour the pumpkin mixture into your flour mixture and combine. Do not overmix.
Step 5: Put the batter into your pans and bake for about 50 minutes. Use a toothpick to check doneness.

Snickerdoodle Cookie:
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F.
Step 2: Use a mixer to cream butter and sugar in a large bowl for 5 minutes. It should be fluffy. Then add the eggs and vanilla and continue mixing for 2 more minutes.
Step 3: Combine flour, cream of tartar, salt, and baking soda into the mixture. Do not overmix.
Step 4: Wrap the dough and let it sit in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
Step 5: In a separate bowl, stir together sugar and cinnamon.
Step 6: Roll out the dough into small ball shapes and coat them in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Make sure they are fully coated.
Step 7: Put the balls onto a baking sheet with parchment paper and bake for about 10 minutes. Let them cool after baking, then enjoy!
