I interviewed people on the football team asking how they prepare for a Football game.
First, I interviewed junior Noah Astorga, a JV player and starting center. When I asked him what he does to prepare for a Football game, he said that he “listens to music and rests in the locker room.” Astorga said he mostly “likes playing Football at the Humboldt State field because he likes the turf more than real grass.”
My second interview was with junior Austin Cooley who is a Varsity Wide Receiver and Outside Linebacker when asked about how to prepare for his game Cooley said he goes and gets food before heading to the field, drinks some water, and listens to music. Cooley said that he “listens to whatever is on my phone.” I also asked Cooley if he has any rituals before a game he said that he is “used to watching JV lose all the time and he considers that a ritual.”
For my third interview, I talked to senior Kayden Hackett, an Offensive Tackle and Defensive End on the varsity football team. When asked about what he does to prepare for a football game, he said he likes to put on his gear, like his game socks. He mentioned that when he hits the field, Hackett said his favorite thing to do in football is to hit people.
My last interview was with Junior Nathaniel Stiles who is a varsity football offensive tackle and a defensive tackle. The question that I asked him was what type of rituals he has before a football game. He said mostly he “binge-watches film on the team he is playing in the locker room before the game.” He said, “After preparing for my opponents, I will listen to some hype music for the game.”
