Name:
Jason Miller
Years playing:
I have played since the age of 5, on and off, so about 30 years.
Years coaching:
I have coached for about 10 years
Did you ever plan on being a high school coach:
I never planned on being a coach, but since there are so few of us now, I’m glad I did.
Infield or Outfield:
Wherever the ball is getting hit, I’m trying to play.
Batting Practice (B.P) or Fielding Practice:
B.P!!! Trying to go to the yard.
Favorite drill and warmup:
My favorite drill is the “bucket drill”.
Warm-up is anything that has a glove or bat involved, and not just running
Favorite Bat Model:
DeMarini, I’ve had many different bats over the years, but the only one that holds a special place in my heart is the DeMarini double wall.
Pump-up song:
Johnny Dang- That Mexican OT. (Clean version if you are on the field!)
Game Day ritual:
Cleats are on in the dugout, and they don’t touch the chalk. There are a few Rick Flair Wooooooos during warmup.
Who are you looking forward to playing the most?
No one in particular, I’m looking forward to seeing how the team reacts when it’s placed in a difficult situation, and how we respond before and after something that doesn’t go our way is the test of a good team
Goals and hopes:
We need to build a culture of teamwork with the players to increase excitement throughout the school about our sport and make the playoffs.
Coaching achievements:
The only achievement a coach needs is to hear that they made a difference in a player’s life. As a coach, you should achieve something each season.
Mindset and views:
The best quote for life and sports is, “It’s supposed to be hard, but if it wasn’t hard, everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it great”
Favorite community/team building activities:
My favorite thing is sitting around after a good practice and listening to the girls saying random things.
