AP Macroeconomics is often regarded as seniors’ favorite classes to end their high school career on. A gambling unit is sure to make the class so much better. It’s also likely to have a positive impact on the learning environment and understanding of the curriculum material.
“I really like talking about money,” one student said, “I think that a unit on gambling will teach the class an important topic in today’s world.”
With the popularity of games like Plinko and Blackjack, it makes sense to put these into the class curriculum. Many students have made it a tradition to buy scratchers on their 18th birthday as a rite of passage.
“I think that this is a vital skill for many students to learn about and prepare them for the real world,” Pinkerton said. “It’s honestly one of the best ways to create generational wealth.”
As of now, many students have lost quite a lot of prized possessions to gambling. They gamble away their cars and their parents’ cars. Tow trucks coming to pick up forfeited cars have now become a weekly occurrence at school. Some students have even gambled away most of their college funds.
“Gambling just gives me a sense of purpose,” Senior Alex Mizoguchi said, “I mean, I did lose my college fund playing blackjack and plinko, but hey, it’s only a matter of time before I make my big break…right?”
