Beyonce recently made history–again. At this year’s 2025 Grammys Beyonce took home the Best Country Album for her newly released Cowboy Carter Album making her the first woman in history to secure this award. The same woman who gave the world “Single Ladies” and “Crazy in Love” is now showcasing her talent in country music. Put up against hit country music stars such as Chris Stapleton and Kasey Musgraves, there is much speculation about if this year’s winnings were rigged in favor of this artist.
Freshman Elsa Neukom said, “I don’t think she is as country as the others, to be honest. Personally, I don’t think she should have won.”
Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z, who has been a staple favorite of the news lately, due to his questionable involvement in the Sean Combs aka P-Diddy scandal, has been at the forefront of whether the Grammys were rigged. At the 2024 Grammy Ceremony Beyonce was nominated for 5 Awards and won none. Jay-Z openly expressed his distaste for the Recording Academy, and people believe that he influenced her wins.
Sophomore Finn Garrigan shared his strong stance on the awards, stating, “I think Beyoncé winning Best Country Album is ridiculous. I have no idea why she won—there are so many country songs that are ten times better. I can’t even believe it.”
Along with winning Best Country Album of the Year, she also won Overall Album of the Year with her “Cowboy Carter” album. In this nomination, she was put up against very talented artists such as Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, and Charli XCX. Her album is celebrated and noted for its southern roots that reflect Beyonce’s upbringing in Houston, Texas.
Although Beyonce has no direct ties to the P-Diddy scandal, many people around her who are involved in the scandal are in her immediate circle, including her husband. This has led to much public speculation wondering if she is involved as well.
P-Diddy has racked up a whopping 120 trial convictions consisting of allegations such as sex trafficking, transportation for purposes of prostitution, and fraud. For Diddy and anyone involved this type of publicity is career-ruining.
