AHS lost one of their last month, a bright light and one of the kindest, Faith Wilks. Wilks was born on December 19th, 2009, and passed on February 3rd, 2025. Her favorite color was purple and she hated to wear her glasses. Mr. Rowe tweaked the words of the song “Purple Rain” by Prince to “Purple Frames,” which would spark her contagious laugh, and she would then willingly put on her glasses. She found happiness in the little things and loved sharing her artwork with her family, which was just one of her many and unique ways to show love.
Wilks passed away in her family’s duplex during a structure fire. Although the fire was contained within 30 minutes, Wilks, her mother, and baby sister passed away at the scene. Everyone who knew her loved her.
“Our close-knit community has so much connection with each other, and the loss of one of our Tigers is felt by all of us. The pain is especially acute for those who know Faith the best. Some of Faith’s closest teachers, staff members, and classmates have offered the following words because this is what they think of when they think of Faith.” Principal Kristin Ferderber said.
