8 am sharp. Junior Liam Gorona, senior Finn Warner, and senior Arlo Clow are slinging breakfast burritos out of the back of Liam’s truck in the high school parking lot. Kids crowding around his truck waiting for their turn to get their hands on a burrito.
At the beginning of the year, long-time friends Gorona, Clow, and Warner decided they needed to make some extra money to better prepare them for life beyond high school. They came together and decided to make breakfast burritos.
“One day me and Arlo were in the chef’s store. I told him before we leave for college, we are gonna find a way to make money,” Warner said.
They sell at the cost of $10 and are filled to the brim with eggs, potatoes, cheese, sausage, and on occasion bacon! “I think it’s definitely worth it, they’re really filling and not that expensive and keep you full all day and they taste awesome too, like they’re hella good,” Vlad Volkov, one of their best customers, shared his opinion about the price of the burritos.
These ingredients are sourced from our local chef’s store and sometimes eggs are provided by Goronas chickens at his own home. “They’re warm and they have a bunch of stuff in them, they’re fully packed with love,“ junior and regular customer Tanner Kees said.
They plan to continue this business through the rest of the year, selling at least once a week. They make around 20 burritos each time but could raise that number as demand increases.
“We put pretty hard work into them to make them fresh for everyone,” Warner said.
They start their days grilling their sausage, eggs, and bacon and constructing the ginormous burritos at Warner’s house at the early start of 6:30 to make sure these are the best possible for their customers. Along with the burritos you are supplied with a packet of hot sauce as well as your choice of drink, usually an assortment of sodas.
