Seniors Arlo Clow and Sionna Khattab were crowned homecoming king and queen on Friday, October 18th during half time of the football game. Other members of the homecoming court consisted of Do’Vaughna Hayes, Bella Campbell, Jace Wallace and Lily Cunningham.
Khattab was nominated by the women’s advocacy club.
“I’ve been a member of the club for all four years of high school.” said Khattab. “This is the first year that I’ve had an officer position, as president.”
Khattab is a graphic designer for the Pepperbox and is a part of Arcata High leadership. She is also a student athlete and is the captain of the Arcata High School girls soccer team.
“This is my fouth year playing soccer at Arcata, and it’s been very fun.”
Clow was nominated by Jewish Student Union (JSU) and is highy involved with clubs on campus.
“This is my second year in Jewish Student Union. I’m in Interact Club as well as Economics Club,” said Clow.
Clow is passionate about cooking and hopes to pursue it as a career, as well as enjoying many other hobbies in his free time.
“I want to go to culinary school after high school. I like getting exercise, going on runs. I also really like hanging out with friends.”
Standing in line with the other 39 nonimees, Sionna and Arlo were both shocked hearing their names called last.
“I was really suprised actually,” Khattab said. “It was really exciting, and I felt really special. It was honestly pretty nerve-wracking standing up there, but it was really cool.”
“I did not expect to win at all,” Clow said. “It made my night really fun.”
Sionna Khattab and Arlo Clow both said that winning homecoming king and queen was the highlight of their night, and had a great time at the homecoming dance!
