"This is as real as a heart attack right now," Nurse Johnny Kell said in regards to COVID-19 fears. Two days in a row, the number of confirmed cases in Humboldt doubled. Brooke Bisgrove on isolation: The boredom thing is very difficult. I mean, there’s only so much you can do in your own household. To help with boredom I’ve been brainstorming ideas of what I can do while this is happening. I’ve come up with journaling/documenting my experience everyday, cleaning up and getting stuff organized and binging my favorite shows. I know some people are struggling mentally with this and it’s important to acknowledge that and talk about it!
Maile is an Arcata High student who lives in Willow Creek. Though she is extremely isolated, she is finding ways to cope. "[I was inspired by] my grandpa, he used to play all the time, some of my first memories of him was when he played the guitar. I first started playing in middle school, it was one of the only music classes that was offered. I played for about a year and then I just lost the motivation. I've been wanting to pick it up again for a while, but I could `never find the time between school, extra curriculars, and just life in general. This has been a nice opportunity to learn again, a silver lining in a bad situation," she said.
