The Arcata High School bell schedule changed many times over the last four years. The administration chose to stick with the same schedule we had last year, with all periods Monday and Friday, Periods 1, 2, 5, and 6 Tuesday, Periods 3-6 Wednesday, and Periods 1-4 Thursday.

1. What are your thoughts on the current bell schedule?
“It allows for enough time to get homework done.”
2. How does it work with your classes?
“There is enough time to do work for classes like math but too much time for classes like German.”
3. If you could change the schedule, what would you change it to?
“I would change it so that you can choose how much time you have each class for and pick the period you have it.”
4. Is Study Hall a good use of time?
“It is good to have to do homework but not everyone uses it effectively.”

“It’s weird with the fifth-sixth period jump on Tuesday.”
2. How does it work with your classes?
“I’m fine with it and don’t have a problem with it.”
3. If you could change the schedule, what would you change it to?
“The schedule now is fine.”
4. Is Study Hall a good use of time?
“I use time effectively and think it’s good and should be kept.”

“It’s a lot of time for classes but I like it as I’m able to do lots of work.”
2. How does it work with your classes?
“Classes require a lot but with the given time it works.”
3. If you could change the schedule, what would you change it to?
“The Friday schedule but fix the time to make it more sensible.”
4. Is Study Hall a good use of time?
“It’s nice to have a break. It is enjoyable but not as effective as having extra class time. Many people just go on their phones and play games.”

“I think it is great but more time gets wasted.”
2. How does it work with your classes?
“It’s annoying having one period first for four days and classes like physics are annoying due to how long classes are but I still love the class.”
3. If you could change the schedule, what would you change it to?
“I would change it back to the three-period block schedule.”
4. Is Study Hall a good use of time?
“I’m fine with it but I think it’s a joke as only one in six kids use it effectively.”
