Humboldt Transportation Authority and ASD breakfast
As summer officially kicks off, qualifying Humboldt County residents are set to benefit from programs designed to ease financial burdens surrounding transportation and meal costs.
The Humboldt Transit Authority (HTA) is sponsoring transportation costs for youth and seniors. From June 1 through August 31, anyone 62 or older and 17 or under can ride for free on all HTA fixed routes. These routes include the A&MRTS, ETS, NSE 101, NSE 299, RTS, and SoHum lines. To access this large country-wide network, passengers may be asked to show identification to verify their eligibility.
The Arcata Elementary School District (ASD) is sponsoring meal costs for youth. Under ASD’s Free Summer Meals Program, anyone 18 or younger can receive free breakfast and lunch starting June 23rd. Meals will be served on (and can’t leave) the Arcata Elementary School campus, located on 2400 Baldwin Street, Arcata. This program aims to ensure every child, no matter their family’s financial status, has access to nutritious meals even when school is not in session.
These two programs will ease financial burdens during the summer months by providing meals and county-wide transportation, free of charge.
