Hearts for sale! It’s that time of year when the feeling of love and romance has returned for its annual appearance. Let’s talk about power couples. The best definition of a power couple would be couples that can make it through the hardest times no matter how hard the world around them gets.
Senior Shaylee O’Neil met her boyfriend, Quinn Schweigert during her sophomore year of high school. They have been together for a year and a half. He is in his first year of college. She feels the reason that they have stayed together is because they keep active to keep things interesting.
“We talk about our future. We go out and do things like go to the beach often or hike in the redwoods. We generally just go out and do things instead of laying in bed all day. We go to the beach, hang out with friends, and plan trips”
Communication seems to be the most important part of most relationships for them to last. “We help each other when one of us is going through something or doesn’t feel 100 percent,” O’Neil said. I think it’s fair to say that we all wish we had some kind of relationship similar to this one.
Our second power couple, Brianna Mayberry and her boyfriend Keenan Bagnell, both juniors now, met in middle school on a farm during summer because their dads were friends. They have been together for two and a half years. Things they do together may differ from the ordinary couple, but they are so cute.
“We play video games together and drive around blasting music,” Mayberry said. “We try to do something each week even if it’s just a 2am date at the gas station.”
The things they do to keep their relationship healthy are
“He just listens to what I have to say most of the time. Even though we fight sometimes, we know working through it only helps us grow stronger,” Mayberry said.
