How Pros Pass the Time

Being stuck in the house has undoubtedly caused a struggle of wondering what to do for many people. There is a lot of boredom that comes with not being able to see friends and family outside of who you live with. Professional athletes have very eventful lives, and this has come to a halt recently. But there is a strange way these studs are keeping themselves busy.

Many National Football League, National Basketball Association, and Major League Soccer players are participating in online gaming tournaments that are aired on Youtube and even live TV. For Madden NFL 20, there is a tournament currently taking place including celebrities such as rapper Lil Yachty, as well as actual players like Deandre Hopkins and Travis Kelce. An NBA 2K20 tournament already took place, with a select group of NBA players battling starting in a Round of 16, all the way until Suns player Devin Booker defeated his teammate Deandre Ayton in the final. MLS is also holding a tournament including professional players from the league, each one representing their club.

On April 26th, Major League Soccer players take to the internet.

There are 4 MLS players that will go into action on Sunday, April 26th, and the club that advances out of all 4 will go into the next round. This can be streamed on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Deportes at 7 PM ET.

In my opinion, this is an amazing way to keep sports fans entertained. Athletes also obviously miss playing in their real life leagues, which was probably just another day for them before. Who would have thought it’d be suddenly taken away. Luckily, these realistic games make it easy for them to represent their teams. The NBA 2K20 games were very entertaining and exciting, mostly due to how realistic the graphics are. None of the games were super close, but it was fun to watch NBA players be competitive in a different way and joke around with each other.

I will not be able to watch the MLS games as I do not have cable, but from what I saw summarizing the last time they played, it’s a similar environment to the NBA and includes professional players as well as professional gamers. All of these tournaments were great ideas, so the sports players can keep themselves busy in a competitive way. Hopefully soon, they can get back out into the real world and show their true talents again.
