Official Community Supported Art Release By AAI

by Kimber Patterson

ARCATA, CA-
On Friday, January 13th from 6 till 9 p.m. the Arcata Arts Institute will be launching Humboldt County’s first official Community Art Share project.

The release will take place at three different locations including Bon Boneire, Redwood Yogurt and North Soles Footwear.

Over the last 20 years, Community Supported Agriculture has become a popular way for consumers to buy seasonal food directly from local farms.  With the same buy-direct, buy-local spirit in mind, Community Supported Art (CSA), an exciting new model of art support and distribution, was created to encourage local art, artists, and collectors.

Arcata Arts Institute has joined Community Supported Art with a mission to cultivate a vibrant arts community by connecting artists with local art supporters.
Community Supported Art provides art shares for shareholders in a series of three deliveries between February and June.

Each of CSA’s 20 shares this season sells for $300 each. Shares are delivered to shareholders in custom-made wooden boxes and contain original works from nine artists, ranging from emerging to mid-career. Also included in the deliveries will be “bumper crops” and items from the “art root cellar.”

This Arts Arcata will be the first registration opportunity for community members.  Any interested participants are welcome to visit any of the locations to speak with CSA representatives, see models and obtain more information.

Arcata Arts Institute, art works art matters!
